THE RESEARCHERS
Susan K. L’Allier is an Associate Professor in the Department of Literacy Education at Northern Illinois University. Prior to becoming a professor, she had 18 years of teaching and administrative experience at the elementary level. She also supervised the Literacy Clinic at Harvard University.Susan K. L’Allier
Laurie Elish-Piper is a Presidential Teaching Professor at Northern Illinois University and also serves as the Director of the Literacy Clinic at that institution.  Prior to joining the faculty at Northern Illinois University, she taught middle-school students for 7 years.  Laurie Elish-Piper
In addition to their joint research on literacy coaching, Susan and Laurie have provided in-depth professional development to literacy coaches in several large school districts.   In their roles as university professors, they also help candidates seeking advanced certification in reading understand and implement effective literacy coaching practices.
